GOLF

As the sport of The Homestead, golf has earned the iconic resort accolades and the respect of generations.
Condé Nast Traveler readers voted The Homestead fifth among The Top 100 Golf Resorts in North and Central America, The Caribbean, Ireland and Scotland.
As an owner, you'll receive preferred access to The Homestead's three award-winning courses: the Donald Ross designed Old Course, William S. Flynn's Cascades Course, ranked as one of the top courses in Virginia and by Golf Digest and The Lower Cascades, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr.

TENNIS

Four Har-Tru and two hard courts have played host to tennis legends Bill Tilden, Bobby Riggs, Kay Stammer and Helen Wills. Will you be the next?

SPA/FITNESS

The Fitness Centers at The Old Dairy Community Center and The Homestead stand ready with weights and cardiovascular machines to get you into the shape of your life. Choose from an extensive spa menu at The Homestead Resort and rejuvenate from head to toe.

SKIING/SKATING

Winter offers numerous fun activities for the whole family from skiing and skating, snowboarding, tubing and even snowmobiling.
Open seasonally.

SHOOTING

A time-honored tradition forever tied to the history of Virginia. The Resort's Gun Club offers three skeet fields, a trap, and five-stand, two sporting clay courses, group and private lessons and all the equipment you will need to take aim.

FALCONRY

A "sport of Kings," falconry dates back nearly 400 years. Exclusively at The Homestead, learn the fine points of the sport with trained birds of prey - falcons, hawks and owls - at The Homestead's Mews, a world-class Virginia falconry facility.

MUSIC

The astonishingly beautiful setting for more than 50 concerts each year, Garth Newel is among the most active chamber music organizations in the country. Performing chamber-style music for small, intimate audiences, it's an inspiring place for both musician and music lover. After many concerts, the musicians join the audience in a gourmet meal prepared by their resident chef, Randy Wyche, and served in the concert hall.

ENTERTAINMENT

In addition to the special entertainment features at The Homestead and events hosted at Old Dairy; an hour's driving radius leads you to the towns of Lewisburg, WV, with it's Carnegie Hall featuring live music and theatre; Lexington with lecture series at two Universities; and Staunton, the American Shakespeare Center's Blackfriars Playhouse.

DINING

The Homestead has everything from coffee shops to casual tavern fare and cocktails to elegant cuisine and fine wines accompanied by a string band and ballroom dancing. Other dining options include local inns, a restored mill, family diners and pizza joints.

HIKING

100 miles of trails ranging from easy to challenging and just waiting for you to put on your boots and get to it.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

The Resort's more than 100 miles of awe-inspiring trails are made for bikers of all ages and skill levels. Bike and helmet rentals are also available.

CANOEING

Put in and enjoy on the beautiful Jackson River. Better yet, find the as-yet-undiscovered new favorite waterway.

KAYAKING

Virginia is a paddler's paradise and with the waters in and around Bath County, it's easy to see why.

EQUESTRIAN

The Preserve's boarding stables offer six stalls, wash stall, tack room and proximity to miles of trails. The Homestead Resort also sustains a stable of nearly 50 horses for English and Western riding.

FISHING

Lake Moomaw lies in the Alleghany Highlands of western VA, adjacent to the Jackson River. Its 2,530 acres are home to an amazing variety of gamefish species, including large and smallmouth bass, and brown, rainbow, and brook trout.
